Klaus Emmaneel reports an Acorn Woodpecker near the 12th Hole on Cedar Hill Golf Course (Victoria area)--flying through the oaks around 230pm on Saturday.
This is a first record for Vancouver Island and the 9th ever for BC.
*Still being seen on November 26th near the end of Diana Rd.
It was not seen on Nov 27th.

ReplyDeleteThe bird is still active Nov 15 along the golf course. Best seen from 1507 Queensbury Ave which runs parallel to the golf course where it is caching oak nuts in two locations. Seems to be active from 10 a.m-2 p.m
ReplyDeleteSeen and photographed caching acorns in an oak between Diana Rd and Glacier Place at around 11:30 on the 16th. It was also reported from somewhere along Doncaster Ave. on the morning of the 16th.
