RBA: HAWAIIAN PETREL off Haida Gwaii - July 6th

On July 6-2026, Simon Thompson and John Hanna found and photographed a Hawaiian Petrel from their cruise ship, Royal Caribbean’s “Serenade of The Seas” off Haida Gwaii.

RBA: BRAMBLING in West Vancouver - July 5th

At 4:33pm on July 5-2026, Vivien Leong and Millan See found a male Brambling in breeding plumage feeding on the path near the duck pond at Ambleside Park. It flew off 2 mins later at 4:35 pm to the south.

The bird was searched for at the duck pond, surrounding beaches and area on July 6th, but was not relocated thus far.

RBA: HOODED WARBLER in Vancouver - July 1st

At 10:15 am on July 1-2026, Kathleen Oliver found a male Hooded Warbler singing in the dense trees off the viewing platform at Trout Lake.

The bird continues HERE as of 8:30 pm and has been viewed by multiple observers.

This is the 10th record for BC.

The bird has not been relocated so far in July 2nd.

RBA: COCOS BOOBY near Active Pass/Galiano Island - June 26th

At 5 pm on June 26-2026, Teresa Jones saw a Cocos Booby attempt to land on her sailboat.

The bird was just east of Active Pass. It continued on flying west after the brief encounter.

RBA: ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER in Penticton - June 26th

On June 26-2026, Jodi Forster found and photographed an Ash-throated Flycatcher in Penticton. The bird was in a Saskatoon berry bush along the KVR Trail, south of the Sunglo Drive entrance and north of Clay Banks.

RBA: BLACK PHOEBE in Delta - June 24th

At 10:55 am on June 24-2026, Wesley and Riley Fern found an adult Black Phoebe flycatching near the viewing platform at Reifel Bird Sanctuary. The bird flew south and was not relocated as of posting.

RBA: INDIGO BUNTING in Kragmont - June 24th

At 12:45pm on June 24-2026, Kalin Ocana found a male Indigo Bunting singing in Kragmont.

RBA: WHITE WAGTAIL in Nanaimo - May 17-June 23rd

At 10:30 am on June 23-2026, Doug Martin found a White Wagtail of the lugens subspecies in the parking lot of West Coast Reductions.

Please view the bird from the public road (Maughan Rd) only as you must be an authorized guest to enter the parking lot. Please do not go into the office to ask permission as it won’t be granted.

It is likely the same bird first reported by Jillian Wheatley on May 17 at nearby Biggs Park, which was an unconfirmed sighting with no photo.

This is the 20th record for BC.

The bird was not seen after 4pm, despite multiple observers looking.

At 1 pm on June 19-2026, Steve Valasek saw a Nazca/Masked Booby flying over the Norwegian Bliss cruise ship offshore from Tofino. Photos are too poor to determine species.

RBA: ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER in Squamish - June 14th

 At 10 am on June 14-2026, Griffin Duckworth, Mike Gallimore and Megan Cesarone found an Ash-throated Flycatcher during a monthly bird count at Squamish River Estuary.

RBA: SNOWY EGRET in Salmon Arm - June 13-16th

At 9:45 am on June 13-2026, Rebecca Maier found a Snowy Egret on the breakwater at Salmon Arm Pier. She watched it fly over the rocks and didn’t see it again.

The bird continued in the same spot on June 16th and spends hours on the other side of the breakwater out of view. It has been viewed by multiple observers.

The bird has not been relocated on June 17th.

RBA: SUMMER TANAGER in Williams Lake - June 6th

At 11 am on June 6-2026, Lara Roorda found and photographed an immature male Summer Tanager that briefly perched at the feeders at the Scout Island Nature House in Williams Lake.

The bird has not returned since.

On June 6-2026, Sachi Snively found a Brown Thrasher at his private home in Queen’s Bay. The bird was singing as well.

The home is not open to the public.

At 4:30pm on June 5-2026, Ian Cruickshank found a male Northern Parula singing in Oak Trees along Hull Rd. He photographed and made an audio recording of the bird.

At 3:15 pm on May 31-2026, Kevin and Daniel Hu and multiple others found a White-winged Dove during a Shuswap Naturalists Club walk near the Illecillewaet Substation in Revelstoke.

RBA: CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER in Victoria - May 30th

On May 30-2026, Geoffrey Newell and Gabriel LeRoy found a male Chestnut-sided Warbler at Uplands Park during the Friends of Uplands Park bird walk. The bird was first viewed HERE and later HERE.

The bird was viewed by multiple observers.

RBA: WOOD SANDPIPER in Port Hardy - May 29th

At 4 pm on May 29-2026, Émile Brisson-Curadeau found a Wood Sandpiper in Port Hardy. The bird was in a little pond 20 m off the trail near the Chevron cardlock gas station. Please stay on the trail while viewing the bird as not to flush it.

RBA: NORTHERN PARULA in Cranbrook - May 29-30th

At 7:50 am on May 29-2026, Jo Ellen Floer found a Northern Parula in the trees near the small pond by Elizabeth Lake Lodge in Cranbrook.

She was able to get a recording of the bird and view it briefly.

At 8pm Craig Sandvig, Sachi Snively and Dianne Cooper viewed the bird at the same spot and obtained photos.

The bird continues in the same spot on May 30th and has been viewed by multiple observers.
