RBA: SUMMER TANAGER in Delta - Dec 15-18th

At 10:35 am on Dec 15-2024, Jon Lambert found a female Summer Tanager in his front yard. The bird has not returned since.

The home is open to the public if it returns. Please view from public sidewalk and do not trespass. Please be respectful of private residences and do not block driveways.

The address is 4595 54 A St in Delta

This is the tenth record for BC.

The bird was not seen on Dec 16 or 17th but was relocated by the homeowners at the same suet feeder on Dec 18th at 10:45 am.

RBA: WHOOPER SWAN in Abbotsford - Dec 6-20th

At 10 am on December 6-2024, Raymond Ng found a Whooper Swan in a field with over 200 Trumpeter Swans on Campbell Rd, 500m west of Marion Rd in Abbotsford. The bird is unbanded.

On Dec 7th, the bird was relocated HERE on Campbell Rd near to McDermott Rd and has been viewed by multiple observers.

On Dec 8th, the bird was relocated HERE on Wells Line and Bowman Rd and also later seen HERE at Wells Line and Cole Rd.

The bird was not relocated on Dec 9, 10th.

On Dec 11th, the bird was relocated on Lamson Rd just south of Vye Rd in Abbotsford. It was also seen in Sumas in WA State (USA) HERE on Dec 11-20th.

**On Dec 20th Cody Lane relocated it on the Canadian side HERE on Schneider Rd.*^

Please be respectful of farm vehicles and pull over completely on the side of the road to view this bird.

This is the third record for BC of a presumed wild vagrant.

RBA: BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER in Squamish - Dec 3-11th

At 2:55pm on December 3-2024, Mike, Barb and Kimberly McGrenere found a Blue-gray Gnatcatcher at the Squamish River Estuary. The bird was in a small flock of Golden-crowned Kinglets on the estuary trail near to 3rd Ave.

On Dec 5th, the bird continued HERE

On Dec 6-11th, the bird continued at the original location.

At 10:30 am on November 26-2024, Ben Ivany found and photographed a Black Phoebe on Second Beach at San Josef Bay at Cape Scott at the NW tip of Vancouver Island.

RBA: PAINTED BUNTING in Revelstoke - Nov 16-23rd

At 11 am on Nov 17-2024, Darlene Cancelliere photographed a Painted Bunting in her yard at 407 Edward Street in Revelstoke.

Birders may view the bird from the public street but please do not enter the yard and do not block driveways. Please be respectful of neighbours in the area.

The bird was last seen on Nov 23rd and was viewed by multiple observers. It has not been seen since.

RBA: BRAMBLING in Duncan - Nov 17th

At 12:30pm on November 17-2024, Derrick Marven found a Brambling visiting the Mountain Ash tree at his home in the 1800 block of Frances St in Duncan.

The bird has not returned since.

RBA: ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER in Royston - Nov 13-15th

At 3:30pm on November 13-2024, Nancy St. Hilaire found an Ash-throated Flycatcher near the railway tracks off Beachwood Rd in Royston HERE

The bird was relocated at 7:30 am on November 14 nearby on Beachwood Rd HERE and continues there and has been viewed by multiple observers.

The bird continues in the same location on November 15th.

At 11:30 am on Nov 11-2024, Emily Braam found a Brambling on Bohler Rd in Terrace.

RBA: KING EIDER in Brentwood Bay - Oct 27-Nov 17th

On Oct 27-2024 Rhia Ironside photographed an immature male King Eider in Brentwood Bay. Her photo of the bird can be seen HERE

The bird was refound by Michael Simmons on Nov 8-2024 off the end of Stellys Cross Rd HERE in Brentwood Bay and was viewed by multiple observers.

The bird continues off the end of Stellys Cross Rd on Nov 9th.

On Nov 10th, the bird continues near Anglers Anchorage Marina HERE

On Nov 11 and 12th, the bird continued at Portside Marina/ Ferry Ramp HERE off the end of Marchant Rd.

On Nov 13-17th, the bird continued off the Keene Way Beach Access.
