On May 16th-2026, Cindy Ederis found a Black Phoebe at the Quinsam Hatchery fish ladder in Campbell River. She believes the bird may possibly have a nest but this is not confirmed as of yet.

The bird continued in the same location on May 20th and was viewed by multiple observers.
The hatchery is open to the general public 7 days a week, between 8am until 3:30pm.
This is the 68th record for BC.
