At 8:50 am on Aug 29, 2026 Simon Thompson had a Hawaiian Petrel off of Winter Harbour on Vancouver Island while riding the Ruby Princess cruise ship. He was not able to get any photos of this bird.

At 3:20 pm on Aug 29-2026, Simon Thompson had a second Hawaiian Petrel well offshore from Ucluelet while aboard the same cruise ship. He was able to obtain photos of this bird.
